OEM Spec Steering Rack Upgrade for 5th Gen Toyota 4Runners

The Toyo Steering Billet Tundra Steering Rack Conversion Kit is one of the most complete steering rack upgrades available for the 5th Gen 4Runner. It was redesigned from the ground up to solve the common issues found with older modified Tundra rack conversions, including frame interference, mount alignment problems, limited stroke, and rack geometry compromises.

Built for 4Runners running larger tires, lockers, factory-length suspension, mid travel, and long travel setups, this kit delivers stronger steering performance while maintaining a predictable OEM-style steering feel.

Instead of modifying a factory cast housing, Toyo Steering uses a CNC machined billet housing with Tundra internals built around the 4Runner chassis. The result is a stronger, cleaner, and more precise steering rack conversion for serious off road use.

Tie Rod Selection

Tie rod selection depends on your suspension setup, spindle taper, and steering requirements. If you have questions about thread pitch, inner rod diameter, overall tie rod length, or spindle taper, send us a text and we can walk you through the correct setup before ordering.

Fitment Notes

• The A arm length "+x.xx" option is only for aftermarket long travel A arms that increase track width. A 3" lift alone does not require this option.
• Choose stock length if you are running factory length arms or mid travel arms.
• The shortened rack cannot be threaded to M24x1.5 for GX460, 2nd Gen FJ Cruiser, or 5th Gen 4Runner applications. Alternative tie rod options are available.
• Tundra outer tie rods use a different taper than the stock 4Runner spindle. The stock spindle must be reamed to a 1:10 taper. We can service your spindles, or you can purchase reamed spindles from us. Any local shop should be able to ream out your spindle to accommodate the Tundra tierods. 
• If you are running factory-length A arms, Apex Tacoma Spec M14x1.5 tie rods can be used with the factory spindle taper.
