What's the difference between the Peak Collar Kit and the Westcott Collar Kit for the 6th Gen 4Runner?
Peak and Westcott both offer collar lift kits for the 6th Gen, but what's the difference?
I wanted to quickly jump here since the question comes up all the time, and list out their products so you can get a clear understanding of lift heights, prices, and materials, so you guys can make an easier choice.
Peak Suspension
TRD Pro and Trailhunter 1" Front Lift: On the TRD Pro, you can get a 1" lift in the front only.
Other trims get 1.25" or 2.25" Front Lift + 1" or 2" rear: On all other trims, you can get a 1.25" lift or a 2.25" lift in the front. For the rear (TRD Pro and all other trims), you can opt for a 1" or 2" lift. With Westcott, you can only get .75" of rear lift.
Lift Kit with UCAs: Peak offers UCAs (upper control arms) in one of their kits, which feature ProBearings Silent Spin inner bushings and the outer pivot joints. The ProBearing bushings and joints are known to be some of the most daily driver-friendly UCAs. ProBearing is based out of San Diego and works with such brands as Dirt King, which makes some of the best UCAs and LCAs in the industry. Peak is really partnering with all the right brands to bring a solid UCA to the market.
Lift options
- 1" front for TRD Pro and Trailhunter
- 1.25" front shim/spacer
- Preload Collar Lift Kit 2.25" front and 2" rear (3-piece kit)
- Rear spring spacers in 1" or 2" lift heights
Summit Kit (Most Common) With UCAs
- 2.25" front lift using top spacer and lower spring adapter
- Choice of 1" or 2" rear spring spacer
- Includes tubular UCAs (upper control arms) for geometry correction and added travel
- Tire fitment up to 35", wheel offset dependent
- Suggested setup 315/70R17 on 17x8.5 with +25 to +45
Westcott Designs
Front 1/2" lift: Westcott Designs makes a 1/2" spacer for the front. Essentially a shim. These are very small spacers that sit directly on top of your factory coilovers to space out the coilover from the shock tower, providing the lift.
Front 2.5" lift and rear .75" lift: Then they offer their Preload collar lift kit. For the front, you get two (2) lower preload collars plus the 1/2 inch Top Spacer, and for the rear, you get 1" rear pucks (spacers). This kit provides 2.5" of lift in the front and .75" of lift in the rear.
Front 1" lift: Finally, they offer a 1" lift via the top hat replacement. This billet top hat replaces your factory top hat and provides a 1" lift in the process. You can also buy this top hat for factory ride height... 0" of lift.
Lift Kit with UCAs: Wescott offers UCAs as well. However, instead of daily driver-focused arms, they offer adjustable inner pivots for easy alignment and utilize FK 3/4 heims and 1.25 Uniballs. Heims and uniballs are great, but they require more service and maintenance than the Probearing joints and bushings found on the Peak Suspension control arms. However, the peak arms are not adjustable.

Peak?
- Front lift heights offered at 1.25" and 2.25"
- Multiple rear height options: 1" and 2"
- Complete front and rear solution in one kit with upper control arms (UCAs) included in the Summit Kit for geometry and travel.
- Around $1500 for the full summit kit with UCAs
- Best for larger lift heights and planned 35" tire setups
Westcott?
- Modular parts sold individually
- Largest front height 2.5", but smaller rear height .75"
- Top hat replacement options at 1" front
- The collar kit is around $500, and add $1500 more if you want their UCAs.
In my opinion, Peak suspension has Wescott beat on price if you want a full leveling kit with UCAs.
